'94 Ford Escort LX - A Mission To Hug Asphalt

Bought my white 1994 Ford Escort LX brand new. As soon as I took possession I removed all four sprints and installed fifteen inch' Tristar rims. Rode low like this for a few years. I then installed Intrax springs, which dropped the car 1.75 inches. This was still too high, felt like I was riding in a 4x4.

Cut two coils off all four Intrax springs which lowered the car 2.5 inches. Then I installed Tokiko struts, giving me more handling ability. Believe it or not, my Escort was still not low enough, so I modified the strut mounts, bringing it up an inch and half more under the hood. In total, I achieved a four-inch drop.

Still too high - but I kicked back with it for a while. Improved the handing by installing upper and lower sway bars. In total I had six sway bars, 3 in front, 3 in back. Did the engine with air intake, full exhaust headers, turbo max muffler, centre force dual friction clutch and short throw shifter. Aftermarket products for the Escort LX were very limited. Most modifications were customized and cost a fortune. Had cross drill and slanted roters made with stainless steel brake lines, carbon fiber pads and racing DO2 brake fluid. Also added V-tech spark plug 8mm wires and Accel ignition system.



In its life, my baby has been white, Porche and Civic SI blue. It's now Volkswagon yellow with white and blue ice, custom kit and hood by GT AutoWorks. The interior has been guted with two racing seats.

Topped it over with 17inch chrome rims and Weapon-R coil-overs, which they say is suppose to drop the car 4 inches. Guess what - it didn't happen for me. It actually raised the car up. They are going back, and will be having custom strut coilovers made along with a full blown custom racing engine.

Candy apple red with red flakes, front bumper, 2001 Integra headlights up top, and 2000 Impreza Japanese spec bumper bottom.

Sides Volkswagen flares, with Honda Accord side skirt. Integra custom back bumper with 2001 civic tail lights and 2001 ford focus mid light.
